Pure Body Cleanse Day 1

As I mentioned in my previous post, I started my 10 Day Pure Body Cleanse and taking you, my lovely readers with me on this journey.

When I take on a new client, I always recommend some type of Cleanse or Detox. Detoxification can be very beneficial in rebooting our internal system. We live in an environment today where there is an abundant amount of toxins that we take in daily. Toxins from the food we eat due to pesticides being sprayed and packaged food that’s wrapped in plastic and then put into a plastic box or bag. Did you know that in a study assessing the harmfulness of plastic polymers based on their chemical composition, 29% of studied 55 polymer types were partly or completely made of monomers that are classified either as carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction? Don’t get me started on the dangers of plastics…we’ll chat about plastic in another blog post. Suffice it to say, plastics are harmful – glass is good. No packaging AT ALL, even better 😊

Back to my Pure Body Cleanse Day 1

Some of you asked if a cleanse can be uncomfortable. The Pure Body Cleanse is a detox designed to be gentle and easy to follow. One of the reason’s I chose this particular cleanse is it’s not a fast, nor is it a colon cleanse, both of which are very harsh on your system. On this cleanse, I am eating plenty of healthy, clean, whole, real food and the shakes are very tasty. The detox tells you you might experience slight withdrawal symptoms in the first few days if you’re a coffee drinker, as this cleanse does not allow coffee.

Before breakfast, I followed my regular routine of making hot water, squeezing ½ a lemon into it, with a dash or two of cayenne pepper upon waking (on an empty stomach). This is very simple and wakes your metabolism, but you would be amazed how many people say they can’t live without it once they start.

For breakfast, I had a shake that I was able to mix with Unsweetened Almond Milk. The shake comes in individual packets which is simple and easy to make. I just poured a cup of Unsweetened Almond Milk into a shaker bottle, poured the powered shake mix into it, added some ice, shook it and breakfast was served. This particular cleanse comes with a proprietary Pure Body Cleanse capsule packets that contains 4 capsules. The capsule packets effectively support the detoxification process by insuring proper protein digestion. They are also effective in helping protect the liver while chemicals and other toxins are mobilized for excretion. Don’t you just hate that word? LOL. The capsule packets are designed with specific nutrients that assist in the avoidance of toxic overload and the reabsorption of harmful toxins back into the blood stream. You take one packet of these capsules 2x a day.

I didn’t feel hungry all morning so I didn’t feel the urge to snack. I just kept working until noon.

For lunch, I had another shake made the same way, another capsule packet and that was that. They couldn’t make it any simpler. And again, the shake is really very tasty and filling.

At 2:30 in the afternoon, I got the dreaded caffeine withdrawal headache. I grabbed the booklet that comes with the cleanse and it reads: You may want to gradually decrease the intake of caffeine one week prior to detoxification to minimize discomfort. Great…a bit too late for that! So, I grabbed a cup of coffee. I’m going to try not to do this tomorrow.

Snack time was at 3:30 and I grabbed a handful of raw cashews and raw pumpkin seeds – I wasn’t even hungry but it’s habit for me.

Dinner I made a big spinach salad with carrots, cranberries, and a bit of quinoa as this is all acceptable. Tomorrow I’ll go over some of the foods that are acceptable and what should be avoided.

I drank warm water with lemon all day long and had no issue with hunger.

I went to bed at 10pm not feeling hungry at all.

One of the effects of this cleanse on Day 1 was I was peeing all the time! I wasn’t drinking any more water than I normally do so I’m believing that this cleanse does a great job of detoxing your pushing everything through your system. I pooped in the morning but that was it. Nothing exciting to report on that front. And yes, we’re going to talk about pooping so if that makes you uncomfortable, this next 10 Days may not be for you. 😉

I slept like a baby. I woke in the morning and weighed myself and I have dropped ½ a pound. It’s all water weight.

We’ll see what happens on Day 2!
